DESIGNER BOOKBINDERS EDUCATION COMMITTEE

As a charity with a mandate to promote bookbinding through education and exhibitions Designer Bookbinders is committed to providing high quality bookbinding education. This is overseen by the Education Committee, formed to further the provision of tuition by the Society.

As well as participating in the joint workshops with The Society of Bookbinders, Designer Bookbinders also organises masterclasses, where Fellows, Licentiates and other highly qualified practitioners offer classes in specialist subjects to small groups of advanced students.

A recent initiative is the Transferring Design project, established specifically to introduce college students and tutors to the possibilities of bookbinding within the art and design curriculum. Over the last two years Fellows of Designer Bookbinders have visited five colleges around the country to teach basic bookbinding techniques, these have been very successful with positive feedback from the participants.

Support Designer Bookbinders. We depend on generous sponsors and donations to help support the Society in running masterclasses and workshops and providing bursaries.
