Designer Bookbinders Masterclasses
Designer Bookbinders runs a series of Masterclasses which are especially designed for binders at an intermediate or advanced level. These classes aim to explore aspects and structures in bookbinding at greater depth and to a higher level than is sometimes possible in other workshops. Numbers are deliberately limited to allow for maximum individual attention.

Precise leather paring and covering
Saturday and Sunday 24-25 October 2026

Venue: 13 Blake Lane, Sandiway, Cheshire, CW8 2NW
Leather paring requires patience, practice and, of course, sharp tools. This workshop will introduce you to both accurate leather paring — using the knife and the paring machine — and covering, and you’ll go away with a little jewel of a box, for your messages.
Suitable for those with some experience in leather paring and tool sharpening

Dominic is a book restorer, design binder and teacher.
He was elected Fellow of Designer Bookbinders in 2008 and in 2013 won the Sir Paul Getty award -1st Prize in DB’s International competition.
Dominic has taught across the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland. He co-founded the DB/SoB Joint Workshops and the SoB Seminar and is past president of SoB and the Hand Bookbinders of California and is Patron of the Association of Book Crafts, New Zealand.
