Designer Bookbinders Masterclasses

We’re delighted to announce our Masterclass Series for 2024. Especially designed for binders at an intermediate or advanced level, these classes aim to explore aspects and structures in bookbinding at greater depth and to a higher level than is sometimes possible in other workshops.

The course fee for weekend Masterclasses is £200 and the one-day Masterclass £100. Numbers are deliberately limited to allow for maximum individual attention.

Bursary help may be available towards the cost of these workshops and we encourage applications. Contact Pippa Smith, secretary@designerbookbinders.org.uk for details.

To book please click on the button next to the course you are interested in. For any queries or further information regarding the Masterclasses, or if the Masterclass you wish to attend is full and you wish to be added to the waiting list, contact Nesta Davies at nesta@leafwork.co.uk, 07984 001830.

Introduction to Letterpress Printing

You will be introduced to printing using traditional type and lino blocks using the Adana 8×5 hand printing press, and it is anticipated that by the end of the class will have printed a series of creative and unique 3 colour works.

Mark is a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders and works in fine contemporary bookbinding, book arts, printing, box art, installation work and collaborative works, both working and teaching various aspects of bookbinding and book art. His work is eclectic and usually combines traditional and contemporary techniques and materials, modifying or manipulating, developing and creating new approaches to realise the final piece.
