The Story of a Red Deer by The Hon John Fortescue

Bound 2022

For Sale: £800

Bound in classic calf vellum. Tooled in gold with black brush lettering. All three edges rough edge gilded. Cover and endpapers handpainted and handsewn silk endbands. Leather entry slipcase.

I wanted to illustrate the red deer as being part of the rich make up of the fauna and flora of Exmoor. Using words from the book to do this in a typographic style also reflects the era the book was published in.
