The print, paper, packaging, publishing and graphics sectors gathered together last week on Thursday 6th July to celebrate this year’s Rising Star Award winners at a ceremony at the House of Lords, hosted by The Printing Charity President Emeritus Lord Black of Brentwood.

Rachel Ward Sale and Jeanette Koch were invited to the event by The Printing Charity’s CEO Neil Lovell, as since 2018 Designer Bookbinders are recipients of funding from the Charity for the Transferring Design project which supports the awareness and practice of bookbinding in UK graphic design and art colleges.

Rising Star grants of up to £1500 were awarded to 34 people aged between 18-30 from across the print industry to invest in their training and development. DB Licentiate Gillian Stewart was a Rising Star in 2019. And it is hoped that more binders be encouraged to enter next year.
